El Dorado County Motorcycle Routes

Paved route 1 (short) - “Epic Sweepers”

107 miles, 3-4 hours

Paved Route 1 takes you up small one-lane roads to the Swansboro airport, a private airport in the mountains! You then take on the absolutely epic Wentworth Springs Rd all the way to Ice House Road. Turn left to visit Loon Lake & the beginning of the Rubicon Trail. Follow the route right to visit the Big Hill Fire Lookout. Return to the MotoRetreat via US50.

Paved route 1 (long) - “Mosquito Ridge Run”

175 miles, 5-6 hours

Paved Route 1 (long) takes you up small one-lane roads to the Swansboro airport, a private airport in the mountains! You then find your way up to Auburn where you can look up and see the third tallest bridge in the USA. Follow Foresthill Rd into Foresthill (fuel up here if necessary), then down Mosquito Ridge Rd where you’ll carve 600 corners over 35 miles. After a break at French Meadows Reservoir, follow Eleven Pines Rd down to Wentworth Springs Rd, Ice House Rd, then US50 back to the MotoRetreat.

Paved route 2 - “High Country Backroads”

104 miles, 4-5 hours

After heading to a higher elevation on US50, you will head down the Strawberry Tract and pass by several campgrounds as you reach Silver Fork Rd. Mormon Emigrant Trail will take you to North-South Rd and then through a small paved road through the community of Grizzly Flats. You will come back up by Jenkinson Lake back to the MotoRetreat.

Paved Route 3 - “Run to Tahoe”

143 miles, 5-6 hours

Ride over Echo Pass into South Lake Tahoe, then into Nevada over Kingsbury Grade. Return to California over Highway 88 through Hope Valley and then Kirkwood. Return to the MotoRetreat via Mormon Emigrant Trail.
